What To Expect in 2019

January 09, 2019

This new year, expect to see some changes as For Tha Masses slowly but steadily veers into a new direction. As a multi-passionate creative eager to learn more, this space will be used as a hub to share more of my creative side thus giving myself permission to explore them. Moving forward, For Tha Masses will focus around 5 areas of curiosity.

  • Art & DIY’s
  • Fashion & Beauty
  • Food
  • Simple/Sustainable living
  • Wellness & Personal Development

My vision is to integrate these topics into the blog over the course of the year and use the space to track my progress while sharing what I’ve learned along the way. In the next coming month, here is what to expect.

January thru March will be focused on Art & DIYs. With the opening of my shop in late March, I have a ton of work ahead of me. I have products to create, printing to do and overall figuring out the logistics of opening and running an online store. The first 3 months of the year will be my time to hone in on my lettering skills and lay the foundation down to becoming a business owner and content curator.

April thru June will center around Fashion & Beauty. Since going through the Konmari method and minimizing my wardrobe, my closet has become a bore and lacks pieces that spark joy. As I continue to transition into being a more conscious consumer, I want to create a wardrobe that highlights my personal style, ethically curated, and full of color and personalized pieces. I also want to learn more about the fashion and beauty industry in general and how the lack of representation affects POC in these areas.

July thru September will focus on Food. Some of you may know this but I have a budding interest in growing my own food. Jon and I have been working towards creating our own sustainable method of growing food for the past 3 years. I wouldn’t refer to myself as a foodie but living a healthier lifestyle that is supported by good food is something that is deeply important to me. My goal during this time frame is to educate myself on food, eat well, and gain a better understanding of some of the politics that dictate the quality of our food.

October thru December we’ll finish off the year talking about Simple/Sustainable living. Part of my goals for this new year is to make small changes in my life that reduce waste, saves money, and promotes the sustainability of the world for future generations to come. I want to know the root of some of the environmental issues we’re currently experiencing that impacts us daily. I will also like to learn of ways to be more resourceful and overall educate myself on what it really means to live a simple yet sustainable life.

As for Wellness and Personal Development, I will continue to talk about these topics throughout the year as part of my personal growth plan. I still struggle and have areas in my life that need work such as building my self-confidence, battling self-doubt and insecurities, not comparing myself to others, and not over-identifying my self-worth to personal accomplishments. I've laid out the year in this manner as a guide to keep me accountable and as a reminder to show up for myself every day. In time, my focus will become clearer so I can continue to provide quality and thoughtfully crafted content. My goal for 2019 is to fully embrace being a beginner and selfishly chase my curiosity. I don't know what all this will bring but I know that I'll have fun in the process.

Let's spend the year putting our thoughts into action and sowing seeds for our curiosities to blossom.
